BruceFest 2022 | Ted Raimi Photos & Signing Experience #1
Ted was the first person I got to meet at the festival! Seeing him in person on the stage at the opening ceremony was so surreal— it felt like a dream. Actually, throughout the entire weekend, I had to keep grounding myself and reminding myself that I was there. In the flesh. And they were, too.
Before taking my first picture with him, I was very fidgety and anxious and I was messing with my hair a lot, to the point where someone my dad and I had met at the fest, who was standing in line with us, started to pick on me about it. The man went right before me, and as he was leaving, I was standing next to Ted and he whispered something in his ear. I knew exactly what he was doing, and so I dejectedly whine, “Hey, come on! Don’t do that!”
Ted turns to me and goes, “oh, are you nervous about your hair?”
I say, “I am nervous about my hair, yeah. And they keep making fun of me for it!”
He immediately says “it looks great! It looks amazing! Are you kidding me?”
Ted helps me get in position for the picture. He’s super gentle and respectful! We take the picture, I say my goodbye, and then I get right back in line for another photo with Ted, but with my dad too!
Tumblr media
When I walk through the curtain again, Ted smiles and says “Hey, I know you! We go way back! Glad to see you again!”
Ted then instructs my dad to get on his left side. He explains to him that he’s going to push my dad away and that my dad has to look super pissed about it as Ted and I get all cozy together. 💀 I’d seen Ted do this in photos before online, and I was honored he wanted to try it out with me.
Tumblr media
Ted is incredibly personable, charming, and funny. He knows exactly what to say to make you feel at ease and treats you like an old friend. At the signings, he asked for my name, which you usually don’t get from celebrities at these events— and he remembered it throughout the weekend as well! But he also called me “dear” / “my dear” and “young lady,” which felt so nice.
Men can flatter women and make them feel beautiful and appreciated without being disrespectful and gross? Who woulda thought?
The first thing I asked him to sign was this print of an art piece I made of Travis. Here’s how our conversation went:
N: Hello!
T: Hey! How you doing again? Good to see ya!
N: I’m good, how are you? I just have this art print I’d love you to sign for me.
T: This is great!
N: Thank you!
T: Where do I—? How do I get these cool things? I always find them online.
N: Honestly? I will literally—
Then Bruce leans over to check out what Ted is signing. Ted shows him.
T: It’s me!
B: Where’s that from?
T: It’s from the game.
B: Really?
T: I’m a cop, yeah.
N: Rough night.
T: Yeah, rough night. It’s really weird, I guess I’m just learning this but I’m sure you’re quite used to it, but— there’s a whole bunch of fan art which is, like, an alternate reality of that world. So, this [my art piece] isn’t in the game, but it takes place during a long night where these—
B: Yeah, with Evil Dead there’s just a bunch of— just a bunch of art.
T: Yeah! Pretty much the same thing.
N: I will totally print it out and bring you another print tomorrow!
T: Would you?!
N: Yeah!
T: Is it expensive to do?
N: No, not at all!
T: Thank you! And who do I make it out to, first of all? Is it your— did you draw this?!
N: Yes!
T: This is your—?! Oh, I saw this online! I think it’s online?
N: I posted it a couple places, yeah.
T: Not on… not on Pinterest…
N: Instagram?
T: No, it was…
N: Tumblr?
T: Tumblr! I saw it on Tumblr! Yeah, you’re really talented!
And then he asks for my name. He notices my signature on my art and says he recognizes it. I pronounce it for him and told him that it’s a play on my name.
And then I quickly show him a picture of the gecko I got over the summer, who I named Joxer. Ted said he’s adorable. Bruce was leaning over and seemed to want a peek too, so I showed him, and then he started singing, “Joxer the mighty, smells like Aphrodite,” and Ted joined in. <3
I went through to get a couple more things signed. Here’s how they turned out! Ted always has something funny to write on the pictures.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Sadly, there were no places in Estes park where I could get another print of my artwork, so I wasn’t able to fulfill my promise of getting one to him. At least I know that the Ted Raimi wanted a print of my art, though.
Insane. Crazy. Unbelievable.
I’ll be posting more about my experience at the fest with not only Ted, but Bruce too, so stay tuned! Until then, here’s Joxer, my idiot reptilian son. <3

Moon is... grumpy. He doesn't like to talk much and can be quite blunt. He has the natural ability to shape-shift. He hates humans, so instead of shape-shifting into one, he turns into an elf.
Sea angels are made by having a perfect pearl with no blemishes blessed in the full moon's rays. This transforms the pearl into a sort of "soul" and the body is formed around it. They are made as babies and need someone to care of them. Though any one could create a sea angel, most of the time, it's another sea angel who performs the ritual to gain a child.
Sea angels are hunted by greedy people for their black blood that can heal ailments, and is said to even bring the dead back to life. And if their tentacles are cut, pearls fall from the wound. A sea angel can only produce pearls the same color as their soul pearl.
When Moon was a baby he lived with his mother by the shore near an elf village. They were very nice and respectful towards him and his mother. This was because the elves made a deal with Moon's mother. In exchange for free food and a safety from poachers and monster hunters, his mother give them some of her healing blood and pearls.
But this little paradise didn't last. A group of humans, the servants of the Dark lord, were after a sea angel. These evil people were accompanied by a strange being, going by the name Eclipse. They found Moon and his mother playing in the waves together. And before Moon could understand what was happening he and his mother were netted and dragged to shore.
Moon's mother tried to defend her son and killed a few of the humans. But she was struck dead by Eclipse. There was such cold bitterness in his eyes as he told his men to take the body and Moon away with them. Moon was stuffed in the same bag as his dead mother, terrified of what was coming next. He was in the darkness for so long... he heard the evil humans talking about how "the blood needed to be fermented anyway for the spell" and "what to do with the little one?" Their cruel laughing etched it's way into Moon's mind forever.
The Dark lord's servants finally stopped at one of their hide outs. They pried Moon from his mother's corpse and tossed him into a cage. They left to go get some egg or something.
This is were Sun and Moon met. A few hours went by before the humans came back. They dumped Sun in cage right next to him. Luckily Sun was strong enough to help Moon break free and they escaped. After Moon and Sun discovered what happened to the poor golem's family, they decided to stay together. They swore they'd get revenge on this Dark lord guy... someday.
After along time passed and the two boys were alot more grown, they would frequently try and get as much information about the dark lord as the could from towns and whatnot. They would disguise themselves, of course. One day at a tavern in a small town they noticed someone else snooping around for information about the Dark lord. It was a human, but maybe... they could be useful...

The night outside was like a dark, heavy, perfumed flower. An expectant night—a night when things intended to happen. Very still. Only the loveliest of muted sounds—the faintest whisper of trees, the airiest sigh of wind, the half-heard, half-felt moan of the sea.

you're a diver from Fontaine, one of the best in the entire Court, and are known far and wide for your ability to collect whatever resource people need- that's where most of your pay comes from, collecting beryl conches and romaritime flowers for jewelry, perfumes, and the like. but you also enjoy diving as a hobby, spending most of your time off in the water and enjoying the sights, your Vision allowing you to breathe easily under the waves. there's something about floating weightlessly in oceanic world that helps you feel so calm and at peace.
it's during one of these leisurely dives that you encounter something- or someone- incredible.
you won't lie, you were swimming too close to the Fortress of Meropide. yes, it's technically forbidden, but you couldn't help but investigate the deeper waters and caves around it after so long of staying away from the area! as long as you stayed away from the searchlights, no one would suspect a thing, so you swam down into the murky gloom. it's more difficult to see as you cautiously glance around, slightly on edge- until you come face-to-face with an oddly glowing light, seemingly emitting from a faceted crystal. you don't dare go towards it (you've had enough experience with ocean creatures to know it very well could be a lure), so instead it decides to come towards you, and an enormous slinking creature is revealed from the darkness. your blood runs cold, all instincts screaming to get away, run, but the monster merely chitters curiously, tilting his horned head and blinking at you quietly.
hesitantly, you raise a hand and wave, and the beast's singular eye widens in awe as he waves back.
you come back to visit the odd creature again and again after that day, becoming adept at avoiding the lights of Fontaine's prison. the monster- Childe, as he told you via carvings on the wall- was incredibly sweet despite his intimidating appearance, greeting you with a delighted chirp and a hug, always extremely gentle with you. he follows you as you explore, protecting you and bringing you trinkets that have sunk to the ocean floor, nudging your hands for head scritches. through his gestures and warbling tones you deduce that he lives in a cavern further below, one you refuse to go to- it makes your skin crawl, for some reason. rarely does Childe come to the surface, but occasionally he'll accompany you if he doesn't want to see you go, wrapping his scaled tail around your legs and whining until you give him a kiss on the forehead. he loves you, and you love him, and he was your special secret.
until you began to fall mysteriously ill, your breaths coming out short and ragged and your head filling with cotton clouds. at first you think it's just a common cold, but it doesn't go away, only getting worse over time. the doctors you visit don't seem to have a cure, merely telling you to rest until you feel better, which you never do, no matter how many hours you sit on the shore with Childe's head in your lap. his worry for you makes you feel a little happier, caressing his cheeks and whispering hoarsely to him as he whimpers, claws dancing over your cheeks in an attempt to hold you back. but it hurts and you cough again and again, growing weaker by the day for no reason other than fate's cruel story.
you don't know that Childe is a monster from the Primordial Sea, gradually wearing away at your strength and life, until it's too late.

I just explained this to someone and I thought I'd make a post for it on here too.
Shrouds in Percy Jackson are like this right?
Tumblr media
But their siblings decorate and make them out of silks with decorative embellishments on them?
The empty ones are burned after a quest to symbolise that the person they were made for came back from a quest ALIVE.
The lack of cemetery at chb shows that when they burn Silena, Charlie, Luke, Lee, Castor, everyone's shrouds, they have their bodies in them. They're being cremated.

Wreck hunters have found the ship on which the famous polar explorer Ernest Shackleton made his final voyage.
The vessel, called "Quest," has been located on the seafloor off the coast of Newfoundland, Canada.
Shackleton suffered a fatal heart attack on board on 5 January 1922 while trying to reach the Antarctic.
And although Quest continued in service until it sank in 1962, the earlier link with the explorer gives it great historic significance.
The British-Irish adventurer is celebrated for his exploits in Antarctica at a time when very few people had visited the frozen wilderness.
"His final voyage kind of ended that Heroic Age of Exploration, of polar exploration, certainly in the south," said renowned shipwreck hunter David Mearns, who directed the successful search operation.
"Afterwards, it was what you would call the scientific age. In the pantheon of polar ships, Quest is definitely an icon," he told BBC News.
Tumblr media
The remains of the ship, a 38m-long schooner-rigged steamship, were discovered at the bottom of the Labrador Sea on Sunday by a team led by The Royal Canadian Geographical Society (RCGS).
Sonar equipment found it in 390m (1,280ft) of water. The wreck is sitting almost upright on a seafloor that has been scoured at some point in the past by the passing of icebergs.
The main mast is broken and hanging over the port side, but otherwise, the ship appears to be broadly intact.
Quest was being used by Norwegian sealers in its last days. Its sinking was caused by thick sea-ice, which pierced the hull and sent it to the deep.
The irony, of course, is this was the exact same damage inflicted on Shackleton's Endurance - the ship he used on his ill-fated Imperial Trans-Antarctic Expedition of 1914–1917.
Fortunately, the crews of both Endurance, in 1915, and Quest, in 1962, survived.
Indeed, many of the men who escaped the Endurance sinking signed up for Shackleton's last polar mission in 1921-1922, using Quest.
Tumblr media
His original plan had been to explore the Arctic, north of Alaska, but when the Canadian government withdrew financial support, the expedition headed south in Quest to the Antarctic.
The new goal was to map Antarctic islands, collect specimens and look for places to install infrastructure, such as weather stations.
Shackleton never made it, however, struck down by heart failure in the Port of Grytviken on the British Overseas Territory of South Georgia, the last stop before reaching the White Continent. He was just 47 years old.
After his death, Quest was involved in other important expeditions, including the 1930-31 British Arctic Air Route Expedition led by British explorer Gino Watkins, who himself tragically died aged 25 while exploring Greenland.
Quest was also employed in Arctic rescues and served in the Royal Canadian Navy during WWII, before being turned over to the sealers.
Tumblr media
The RCGS team members carried out extensive research to find Quest's last resting place.
Information was gathered from ship's logs, navigation records, photographs, and documents from the inquiry into her loss.
The calculated sinking location in the Labrador Sea was pretty much spot on, although the exact co-ordinates are being held back for the time being.
A second visit to the wreck, possibly later this year, will do a more complete investigation.
"Right now, we don't intend to touch the wreck. It actually lies in an already protected area for wildlife, so nobody should be touching it," associate search director Antoine Normandin said.
"But we do hope to go back and photograph it with a remotely operated vehicle, to really understand its state."
Tumblr media
Alexandra Shackleton is the explorer's granddaughter and was patron to the RCGS survey.
"I was thrilled, really excited to hear the news; I have relief and happiness and a huge admiration for the members of the team," she told BBC News.
"For me, this represents the last discovery in the Shackleton story. It completes the circle."
The explorer continues to spark interest more than a century after his death.
Hundreds of people visit his grave on South Georgia every year to pay their respects to the man known by his crews simply as "The Boss."
"Shackleton will live forever as one of the greatest explorers of all time, not just because of what he achieved in exploration but for the way he did it, and the way he looked after his men," said David Mearns.
"His story is timeless and will be told again and again; and I'm just one of many disciples who'll keep telling it for as long as I can."
Tumblr media
Sir Ernest Henry Shackleton CVO OBE FRGS FRSGS (15 February 1874 – 5 January 1922) was an Anglo-Irish Antarctic explorer who led three British expeditions to the Antarctic.
He was one of the principal figures of the period known as the Heroic Age of Antarctic Exploration.
